Is it a bad idea to call side-effects from useStateReducer?

Hey,

I'm on react-table v7.
There are two possibilities to execute side-effects after table state changes.

1. useEffect

  useEffect(() => {
    dispatch({
      type: "sort",
      state: transformSortBy(sortBy, tableColumns),
    });
  }, [sortBy, tableColumns, dispatch]);

2. stateReducer

  const table = useTable(
    {
      columns: tableColumns,
      data,
      useStateReducer: (newState, action) => {
        switch(action.type) {
          case "toggleSortBy":
            dispatch({
              type: "sort",
              state: transformSortBy(newState.sortBy, tableColumns),
            });
            break;
        }
        return newState;
      },
    },
  );

I think the first approach is the better one, isn't it? Maybe somebody has some insights.
