Table modes

Hi,

I wanted to ask if there is any built-in support for "view modes" of a table. Say I have a switch above the table that can alternate between two values: "Basic" and "Advanced". Based on selected mode some columns are hidden and a different API is called.
Are there any best practices of achieving something like that that?
