proton compatibility don't work with VP

step to reproduce the issue:

1. being on fedora version 41
2. download steam from flathub
3. install the latest version of civ 5
4. checking to see if opens (opens fine)
5. enabling proton compatibility (only steam Linux runtime 1.0 (scout) and legacy runtime 1.0 make the game actually launch)
6. other proton options are making steam just display updating exceptionable and after sometime it just return to play button
7. if i use linux runtime 1.0 (scout) and i open Vox.Populi.4.16.2.exe with protontrick launcher and choose civ 5 it gives me this error:

Protontricks was closed due to the following error:

Proton installation could not be found!

Having the exact same issue, but on Pop OS 22.04 and VP 4.18. Would love to know when this started, because supposedly this issue was already fixed previously - ValveSoftware/Proton#3190 - tried reverting to Proton 6.3-8, but no luck. If anyone else figures out how to fix this issue, please let us know.

@eyalgi11 Have you tried reinstalling Civ V? Someone on the git issue I linked above recommended it. It took the 2nd time reinstalling, but it works for me now.
