Steps to reproduce the bug

Hello,

I am unable to see any thumbnails with any video. It is not matter of YouTube, but also Bandcamp, etc. The content is playable, but no thumbanails both in the video list and in file detail.

Can you fix it, please?

What settings do you have in settings->content->image quality?

I use "medium quality". I tried to change to "low quality" and restarted app, but it did not help. After couple of seconds being on the list, I can only see icons of my saved "Channels" now. When I hit the file to play, the video is running fine. But all thumbnails in "History" and "Saved Playlists" are not shown (I use just these).

@Moostek : based on your recent ticket in the Tubular project, I'd assume you also obtain NewPipe from the F-Droid store?

I have both NewPipe 0.28.2 and Tubular 0.28.2, which I install directly from the APKs hosted here, and aren't having the same issue.

Try the following to see if it helps:

• In NewPipe, go to the "hamburger menu" (three lines, top-left)
• Go to ⚙Settings
• Go to History and Cache
• Tap "wipe cached metadata"
• Go to the previous Settings screen, then into "Content"
• Make sure "Show age restricted content" is ON (if you're an adult, of course) and "Turn on YouTube's Restricted Mode" is OFF

Then swipe the app closed, and find the NewPipe app icon on your home-screen or app-drawer:

• Hold-down on that icon, and look for the ℹ (i) icon
• Tap that to go into the Android app-settings for NewPipe
• Do a "Force Stop", followed by "Clear cache"

Go back into NewPipe, then to Subscriptions, then All, and do a refresh

Thank you for your tips. I did everything according to your manual up to restart of the app. The thumbnails are still not visible in "History" and "Saved Playlist".

What do you mean with "Go back into NewPipe, then to Subscriptions, then All, and do a refresh", how about refresh, how to refresh? Also what do you mean with All (I use Czech localization).

@Moostek : by refresh, go into the "Subscriptions" screen, tap "All" (so you see the list of every YouTube channel you are subscribed to in NewPipe) then tap the circular arrow icon in the top-right. That will then download all the updates for each channel

If you still have an issue, then it must be one of a few things:

• An issue affecting the F-Droid version of NewPipe, but not the APK you can download from this site;
• An issue only present when the app displays in Czech;
• Or maybe you use a custom DNS server on your phone, or you use a VPN?

Things you could answer to help there:

• Do any of your friends or family use NewPipe, and if so, are they having the same issue?
• Have you tested on both mobile-data (4G, 5G, etc.) and Wi-Fi? Do they both not show the thumbnails?
• Do you only use NewPipe on that one device, or do you have another phone or tablet and it has the same issue there also?
• If you tap on the videos where the thumbnails are missing, do the videos still play or say "this video has been made private"?

Hello, thank you for your tips! It works now;)

First, I refreshed the "Subscriptions" according to your manual. Nothing happened. But I was interested in Wi-Fi/mobile data switch. So I tried to switch from Wi-Fi to mobile data, then deleted the cache within the app, plus the one by Android OS app settings and I refreshed "All" in the "Subscriptions". And since then, it works and I can see all thumbnails everywhere;)
