I've just installed Technitium DNS on an Ubuntu 24 VPS which is with a cloud host which, obviously, has a public IPV4 address. Before locking things down and doing my full config I did some initial sanity-check testing of my setup. All I've done so far is:
I can't seem to resolve anything (google.com, apple.com etc). In my head I'd imagined that configuring the forwarders in Technitium DNS would be enough to get the base setup running from my client machine? My machine would query the Technitium DNS, not get an authorititive answer as no zones are configured and hand the request straight on to Cludflare. The Technitium admin interface is working fine, it's the resolutipn I'm struggling with. Thanks |

The default option for new installs is to allow recursion for Private networks only. So check the setting is set to Enable Recursion. |
