Description
We should honestly phase out the usage of the StopModReposts API, given it's heavily outdated, & no longer maintained. The project as a whole has been put into an archival state.
& regardless, the authors often had weird "internal reasons" for not removing legitimate sites from the blocklists. Examples being MCBBS & mcmod.cn.
There was briefly an alternative fork of StopModResposts, referred to as StopMalwareContent, however that project has also been indefinitely suspended, & the API shut down.
Potential solutions to this would be hosting & maintaining our own list of sites, & referring to that instead.
Additionally, including our own reporting system for accidental blocks; & allowing users to "proceed with caution" rather than outright blocking the installation of files; allowing users to work-around false positives until they are resolved.
I'd be perfectly happy to maintain the site lists myself, & if any extension developers are wanting to; would be free to make use of the list to superceded the now defunct SMR & SMC browser extensions.
