EC2 Cost Tracker with Telegram Alerts

Lambda-based EC2 cost monitor that bypasses AWS billing delays. Polls EC2 API every 15 min, calculates runtime × hourly rate, sends Telegram alerts for budget thresholds, instance start/stop, and periodic summaries. Includes AWS billing/credits integration.

Deploy Instructions
Step 1: Log into the AWS account's console and open CloudShell
Step 2: Clone the repo

Step 3: Copy files and set up
mkdir -p ~/ec2-cost-alerts && cd ~/ec2-cost-alerts
cp /tmp/ec2-repo/experiments/14_cost_monitoring_forecasting_accounting/ec2_cost_alerts/ec2_cost_tracker_lambda.py .
cp /tmp/ec2-repo/experiments/14_cost_monitoring_forecasting_accounting/ec2_cost_alerts/setup-cost-alerts.sh .
chmod +x setup-cost-alerts.sh
Step 4: Set Telegram credentials and deploy

Step 5: Test
aws lambda invoke --function-name ec2-cost-tracker --payload '{}' /tmp/test.json --no-cli-pager && cat /tmp/test.json
Step 6: Enable billing access — as root, go to Account → IAM User and Role Access to Billing Information → Activate IAM Access → Update
