The voice proximity doesn't work

Hello,

I tried to setup the mod with two friends but the voice proximity volume stay at 100%.
I downloaded the latest version of the server, typed the command voiceprox on but it seems that the program does not see that we are moving away

I assume that you were able to hear people through the voice proximity client, it's just that people's volumes aren't changing. This did come up a couple of times in my testing, but it was always because the game client was in a "non-connected" bugged state. i.e. if connected players = 0 in the debug menu. This issue can also happen if:

1. you start your game and you aren't connected to the voice prox server,
2. you enter a stage (e.g. cascade, then stage packet is sent to the non-voice prox server or no server at all if you aren't connected to one.
3. join the voice prox server, but a stage change packet isn't sent because you haven't changed stages (i.e. menu->stage).
4. because the voice prox server was never told what stage you're in, it doesn't know if you should/should not be able to hear other users, and it defaults to 100%.

This might be the issue, but a new server build with some QOL changes and bugfixes is coming out in the next couple of days.

You can verify if this is the issue by running the commands listigstage, listigteams, and listdiscordassocs.
The first lists out a list of each person connected to the server, and the stage that the server believes them to be in. (If this isn't assigned due to the 4 step process above, then it'll list (IG: "in-game name", Stage:null), etc. for the other ones.) Make sure that everyone's information shows up in these lists, or basically any communication to/from the "missing user" will be at 100% volume, instead of what voice proximity should be

SUPER IMPORTANT
If any people are using the Practice Mod, since the practice mod appends "(PM)" to the end of a persons username, you need to make sure to include the "(PM)" in the settings of the voice proximity client.

e.g. if my in-game name is "Moomoss" (without the quotes), and I'm using the practice mod, then the proximity chat client needs to have "Moomoss(PM)" as my username (without the quotes).

We tried to avoid the possible bugs listed above, in the debug menu, we have 2 connected players.
Yes it's just that people's volumes aren't changing unless we change the stage, in this case the volume goes down to 0% and only goes back up to 100% if we both click on Team then on Global

at least the behavior seems to be more consistent with what voice proximity should be doing. The talking range isn't huge, and the green slider bar should move up and down as you move towards and away from each other. The 0% volume is more of an indication that the proximity is working, but that it doesn't recognize you in the same stage (ruled out by the fact that listigstage both shows you in the same stage). I know an early version of the server cared about having the involved players in the same scenario in addition to the same stage (I don't think that's the case in this version however).

dumb question: did you run the "voiceprox on" command in the server?

As a side note: the behavior you have been doing to "fix the talking" by clicking on the global and team button is actually probably because you "got the button stuck" (The same way that you might get a keyboard key "stuck in the down position" by dumping a drink on your keyboard). This stuck state can be undone by clicking and releasing the "stuck button".
