Compliance with SYCL 2020

Hi Ladies and Gents!

I am currently evaluating getting a VE Type 10C as an experimental card for testing part of my SYCL codebase. To do so I would be using neoSYCL.

A significant part of my codebase is SYCL2020 based and I'm wanting to verify how much, if not all of neoSYCL is compliant with 2020 vs 1.2.1.

From the paper it seems as if neoSYCL is built on SYCL1.2.1, is that correct? Specifically since the paper sites the 2019, OpenCL 1.2.1 revision of the specification, this is my assumption.

Hi @FCLC, your assumption is correct. neoSYCL implements the SYCL 1.2.1 specs. We currently do not have plans to support SYCL 2020.

Thank you for the prompt reply.

It may be worth adding this to the Readme.

Being as neoSYCL is downstream/forked from DPC++ (or seems to be so per the Kronos specification webpage) is their no possibility of changing this longer term?

(I'm not trying to add changes to the roadmap, more so trying to understand)

Thanks for your advice, we will clarify the supported SYCL version in our README.
In the long-term we might support SYCL 2020, but currently do not have resources.
