What are the best methods to migrate from Microsot Onenote to Trilium?
There are a couple of routes mentioned in this issue #1013 , but it's closed and doesn't have high visibility. I'm starting this thread as Discussions is a better home than Issues. Also perhaps there's been some changes in the intervening time that could be brought to light?
Use Evernote to import notes from OneNote, one section at a time --> Export Evernote .enex files for each section --> import to Trilium by right clicking on a note where you want to import and selecting the ENEX file (ref).
@meichthys said a lightly modified version a python script by @danmou that exports Onenote to HTML worked well, but didn't indicate what modifications were needed. Perhaps they're obvious to a python developer.
Other methods and pages found on the net that look useful:
https://github.com/alxnbl/onenote-md-exporter - Exports to markdown files and external images, designed with the idea of Joplin as the eventual target, has a very clear description of what info is kept and what is lost (e.g. handwriting, to-do etc. tags, onenote:// links).
I'll be treating this opening post like a wiki page, adding info and summarizing any comments as research progressses.
