Can't select text after updating to 0.94.0 #5885
-
I just noticed a behavior change after upgrading from 0.93.0 to 0.94.0. And perhaps I am either doing something dumb or missed a note about this change. Basically, I copy text out of my notes all the time (scripts, commands, code, etc..) the normal way. Which is just left-click dragging the mouse over the text to be selected and then either ctrl+c or right-click and copy to grab the text to the clipboard. However, since upgrading to 0.94.0, I am unable to do that. It no longer selects the text and instead will drag the text. Any thoughts on this one? I forgot to mention that this also happens in the desktop app as well. I am only seeing this behavior inside of TriliumNext Windows 10/11 |

Hi @Br0kenSilos! I'm Dosu and I’m helping the Notes team. This is a confirmed bug in TriliumNext 0.94.0: text selection highlighting is not visible, so when you try to select text with the mouse, it appears as if nothing is selected or the text is being dragged instead. However, copy/paste functionality still works even though you can't see the selection. This issue affects all themes and content types and is acknowledged by the maintainers. A fix will be included in the next version of TriliumNext. As a temporary workaround, some users have reported that changing the theme can restore visible text selection and allow you to copy as usual. The root cause is likely the upgrade of CKEditor from version 42 to 45 in this release, which changed some editor behaviors. For more details and updates, see the discussion here. To reply, just mention my name @dosu. How did I do? Good | Irrelevant | Incorrect | Verbose | Hallucination | Report 🐛 | Other |

Thanks for that. I was just getting ready to say.. In FireFox I use "Dark Reader" which I normally have disabled in my Trilium pages because the theme I am using normally looks real nice as is. And after I submitted the above, I realized that is I ENABLE darkreader for the Trilium site, I can see the selected text. Obviously that wont work in the desktop app but thats ok. I mostly use the webUI. So I have the workaround with DarkReader. I appreciate all the hard work the team is putting into TriliumNext. |
