Create a Relation-map as the example with multiple relationships

I'd like to create a relation-map like the one in the example, but as you can see in my image below, when I create the relationships, they remain as two separate connections instead of merging into a single one in the graph.
Before I continue adding more relationships, I'd like to confirm that I'm creating them correctly.

I don't know what I'm doing wrong, or if this is how the relation are now and I'm just seeing old documentation.
