Replace remote Trilium instance with local content

I suspect there is currently no way how to replace remote instance with local content so synchronization can be started at any time, conveniently, user friendly, initiated from local desktop app.

How to avoid error: "It looks like you're trying to sync two different initialized documents which is not possible"?
Is there a way to force the the synchronization? To force the merge?
To flush/dump out remote instance with local data?
This can be restricted to only situations where remote content is effectively empty.

Imagine this typical scenario:

• User installs desktop version of Trilium
• They liked it! They used it. Notes piles up.
• Then comes the time to start a remote instance, to share the data; to have the data available on the go; to have them backed up in the cloud.
• They overcome hurdles to get it running. Usually with the empty content, or nearly empty content, bar few test notes
• They set up Synchronization within the desktop Trilium, the primary source of data.
• And here comes the disappointing "Dough!" and "Ouch!", it doesn't work this way. Your local Trilium won't synchronize with remote Trilium unless it was linked with (derived from) it when you created your local data instance, that happens usually when you install desktop Trilium.
• You hot the limitation of: "It looks like you're trying to sync two different initialized documents which is not possible"
• There is a way around, but it fiddly, multi-step: exporting data, recreating local data instance, importing data back, loosing your history in the process, etc. And the worst is, you may be forced to repeat the process if the remote instance is suddenly removed from cloud (happened to me right now, investigating..)
