issue with button mapping

Just received a retro pocket G2 and nethersx2 will not read my left d-pad button. It's the only application that won't I have tried remapping controls multiple times but it doesn't even take the input it treats it like a back button. I have hunted through guides I have posted on Reddit and no one has given me any advice on how to fix this issue so I'd appreciate anything if possible.
