Investigate and document metadata standards applicable for input and output datasets #51

Description

@sergegoussev

Context and Goal of the guide

  • Input datasets (that are open and registered on the catalogue or are properietary) should ideally follow certian metadata standards to make them interoperable.
  • Output datasetes that a research project creates should also (ideally) be highly interoperable if its shared to be used by others.
  • We are not clear what the metadata standards should be for these two types of data. Within the official statistics dimension of price statistics this format could be SDMX or others as applicable.
  • Other metadata aspects such as persistent identifiers (PIDs)

Success criteria

  • List options for metadata standards and how to read/write them for researchers
  • Document tie between the metadata standard and how to register the dataset to the catalogue

Notes

  • Most datasets in the discipline will not be owned by the catalogue/this group. Thus instead the catalogue acting as a way to host the formatted dataset, this task should include recommendation on how to automate the collection and formalization of datasets owned by other organization into the required standard.
