The next tutorial of the US-RSE Education & Training Seminar Series will feature Hannah Cohoon "Rapid Usability Assessments."

This event will take place **Tuesday, June 24th at 2-4 PM ET, 1-3 PM CT, 12-2 PM MT, 11 AM - 1 PM PT**

*Abstract*: This tutorial will teach participants the basics of rapid usability assessments—a good way to quickly identifyareas for improvement in any user experience.

Whether your users interact with your software product via command line or GUI, usability assessments can be a useful tool.

These tests can be completed quickly and provide quantitative data like users’ success rates, speed, or satisfaction when completing a task.

In this hands-on tutorial, participants will learn to define a task for moderated assessment, recruit and prepare for their study, conduct a usability assessment, and analyze results.

### Biography

Bio: Hannah Cohoon is a UX Researcher at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab and is co-chair of the US-RSE UX
42+
Working Group. She studies scientific software development, seeking to create more rewarding and
43+
impactful careers for RSEs and more efficient and enjoyable experiences for users. She has focused on
44+
studying and facilitating open source development and open science practices. Hannah received her PhD
45+
from the University of Texas at Austin.
