Reproduction steps

factory reset. plate calibration test. fault remains. I have no answer. printer is brand new.
I'm now thinking some error may be coming from the slicer Cura.
Thinking of a reinstall of Cura, see what that does.
I do have a second printer ender 5 pro, but waiting for a new mother board. so cant test
with it.

Actual results

I am stopped until I can locate the problem.

Thanks for the report.
The machine should follow the instruction list that is the gcode file. The beginning of the gcode (heating, zeroing, maybe purge lines, etc.) are from the Machine StartUp Gcode that was provided by a member of the community, or by Creality. UltiMaker does not get involved in the definition unless they build the printer.

UltiMaker 5.4.0 is well out of date. I'll leave the bug label on this and I'll mark this report as "Stale" and close it. I hope you understand.
Try updating to the latest Cura stable version (5.11.0) as there have been numerous changes over the years since 5.4 was released.

Ok, thanks your reply. I now have 5.11.0 on both PCs., I'm still in lots of trouble as I am lost as what to do. If there is anything you can do to help I'd be very thankful.
I'm 85 years of age, I have this hobby to keep my brain active. But boy am I finding im left behind. I was a electronics engineer. worked on AM broadcast stations.
I have done a factory restore with no results. Best John.

Very little to go on but red light sounds like a faulty hardware. As it's a new printer have you tried contacting creality support?

Let's start from the beginning.

• In Cura, load a simple model (calibration cube, benchy, whatever)
• Set Cura up for the slice.
• Select "File | Save Project" to create a special 3mf file. That special 3mf file will contain your printer, the model, and all your Cura settings.
  In File Explorer - Zip that 3mf project file and then add one of the "bad" Gcode files to the zip folder, and post the zip folder here. I'll take a look.

If the printer is seeing a particular Gcode command that it doesn't like, it would typically ignore it and move to the next line. The "red light" thing is odd although many mainboards have red LED's to indicate that they are powered up.

There are certain situations where an "unknown" command has locked a printer up.
An example would be a machine without a heated bed and there is an M190 S75 in the Gcode that is telling the printer to start heating the bed and do nothing else until it reaches 75°. It will wait forever if there isn't actually a bed heater as the temperature can never hit 75.
