We've talked about codesign back in #679. In #847 ad-hoc signing has been added to the build process. Binaries signed like this are accepted on the device where they have been built. But for distributable binaries the signatures need to use the key of someone who pays for the Apple Developer Program.

Edit: And the binaries also lack notarization.
