I wanted to report a few issues, like the Z axis, which doesn't work, at least in what I tested with PWM. It should work. All other programs work. The Z axis with PWM, for some reason, doesn't work there. It should be something more adjustable. And creating gear shifts with a potentiometer/hallometer. That's just the basics for the G27. A lowpass filter is missing. Adding another gear slot to complete the seventh octave and eliminate the need for reverse. Buttons to reverse the direction of rotation of the axis. The gear shift for both X and Y axes is missing. And perhaps a dedicated reverse button. If only it were possible. There are only a few direct buttons. Eight. The STMF407 has many more possibilities.

I am not sure if i can follow what your issue is.
There is no Z axis with FFB. only 2 FFB axes are supported. You can have up to 6 analog axes using the analog pins.

G27 mode has no software lowpass and should not be required. If you get so much noise that the gears are unreliable there is a much bigger issue in the wiring than what a software lowpass could correct.

I assume you want a dynamic shifter mode with more gears and positions for custom shifters?

Basically, the Z axis doesn't work in PWM mode, which is what I tested and didn't work. I simply don't understand how to configure it. I couldn't find any explanatory tutorials on YouTube. How do I know it's working? How do I know where it's configured? I don't know. Maybe I didn't understand how to configure it, but I only found a button to activate it. But it doesn't work. The driver being used is PWM. Local encoder, abn. And the gear shift could be a little more polished. It lacks configuration, and instead of just 6 gears, why not 8? Adding an extra X divider. Most systems that use Arduino have this. I mean, you can get more performance out of a gear shift like that on the STM. It's totally possible. You nailed the force feedback system, even the pedals, but the gear shift isn't quite ideal. It could use an update, I think.My suggestion is to innovate a bit in this area. I mentioned being able to invert the positioning, the direction the shifter shaft goes. But the pedal could also have a button to reverse. It would be very interesting. And useful. You mean the third analog axis? This axis is provided by the analog input pins if you select the analog pin source.
That has nothing to do with PWM.

The shifter mode was made to support existing shifters. Another gate is possible but it would require some device to test with and a completely new mode, UI and parameter tuning. Not something that is currently planned and as you said you could just use an arduino instead.
The development focus is more on the FFB side.

It is quite evident that there was a misunderstanding: your response diverged significantly from what I was actually saying. You addressed points I never intended to raise in my original message.

Let’s go step by step:

Part One – Encoder
The encoder has the Z axis, which is the position detection axis, responsible for generating one pulse per revolution. However, in force feedback PWM mode it does not work at all. Even when enabled in the software, it serves no purpose. Upon startup, the system does not even attempt to calibrate it.

Part Two – XY Shifter
Currently, the XY shifter only supports 6 gears, while other systems – even those based on a simple Arduino, which is far more limited – allow 8 gears, since they use 3 divisions on the X axis and 2 on the Y axis. It is a straightforward addition: just one more division. I have already implemented this myself; if needed, I can provide the code.

In addition, the XY shifter is missing some essential configuration options:

Ability to invert the rotation direction of both axes;

Fine calibration adjustment of the axes for better tuning;

More customizable filtering.

These features are necessary for those who want to build custom shifters, such as a 3D shifter with 8 gears plus reverse. At the moment, its usefulness is mostly limited to replicating the G27 and G29 shifters.
