the typical way to pass ESC key in :norm is by pressing ctrl+v then esc in vim. but how it's done in vscode?

vscode huh?

pressing ctrl+v pastes the system clipboard.
pressing ESC closes the command mode
tried passing ^[ (raw) didn't work
