(error) logging needs dates

i'm not entirely sure where this thing is logging. since we are currently using [foreverjs](https://github.com/foreverjs/forever) to run it, i think it logs to `~/.forever/<someID>.log`, but how to know which, and then when looking at log, is there helpful info (e.g. to diagnose a crash?).
