Just hoping to find some ideas about how to calibrate the joystick input "range" (not deadzone)
Many VR devices have been showing drifting issues after years of use. This was temporarily fixed by the "setting dead zone" feature in SteamVR.
However, as drifting gets worse, joystick replacement becomes inevitable. Replaced joystick might not let the controller to output full range of X and Y axis data, so some kind of calibration may be needed.
My idea now is to create an SteamVR add-on that reads intercepts joystick position data from OpenVR driver, modify it, then send to SteamVR.
I'm not sure if this is the most straight forward method, so I hope to discuss with someone that has more technical insights on how this problem could be tackled.
