Unable to see other players backpacks in multiplayer

I'm unsure if this is a bug or a feature request, so sorry for the lack of a label, but I cannot see other players backpacks in multiplayer. As in, there is no backpack on their back. They cannot see mine, either. Is that intended, or possibly a bug with one of the mods on my list? I'm not seeing any log errors.
