Missing "persistence.retain" option

Describe the problem

When uninstalling Weblate with helm by running helm uninstall some-weblate, the Weblate PVC is deleted.

Solution brainstorm

Is it possible to add an option to retain the Weblate PVC when uninstalling the helm chart? I most helm charts there is an option under "persistence.retain" to control if the PVC should be retained. I would be very helpful to be able to control this functionality. To be safe, I would recommend to retain the PVC by default.

Hello @jaunusa ,

I don’t see this as a bug. The retention policy is defined by the StorageClass. If the StorageClass reclaimPolicy is set to Delete (or left as the default), then all PVCs created using this StorageClass will inherit that policy.

Similarly, if you want a Retain policy, it should be configured at the StorageClass level.

Therefore, there is no direct need to define this option at the deployment (PVC) level.

Hello @Mart-Kuc, initially I opened this issue as "new features". @nijel reopened this issue and changed the type to "bug", I can't tell you why.
I have been using several Bitnami Helm charts on a shared cluster, where I'm not an admin and not able to manage storage classes. I can't tell if it was the chart or storage class configuration, but at that time the PVC persisted after uninstalling the chart. So that's why I thought, maybe there is something missing in the Weblate Helm chart, but at the end I'm fine with it.
