Installer crashes, failed to get previous install location

Provide a description of what the bug is

Upon execution, the application window flashes briefly and exits. A log file is generated, showing that the process stops immediately after the metadata cache check.
What I’ve Tried

• Running as Administrator
• Re-downloading the installer
• Moving the installer to different directories
• Disabling Windows Defender
• Clearing %LOCALAPPDATA%\cache\qt-installer-framework

Provide steps to reproduce the bug

1. Launch the software
2. Software crashes
3. A log file is generated in the same directory

I have never actually seen this before bit of a strange issue, looks like its something to do with the qt framework which ive got no clue how i would fix, might just need an update when i package it next, I cant replicate this so i cant do much else i can do on my end

If you have the time though, could you please open it through the command prompt with the verbose argument and post here the output?

/path/to/Spotify.Downloader.Installer.Windows.exe --verbose

It might have more details that tell why it crashed or just work, a quick look online says opening it through the terminal sometimes works but i doubt it here

If you want to use the app right now though, just use the portable version that should work

I tried running it on another PC and the installer started fine. Screw it, I will just be using the portable version, then. Thank You.

That output actually helps, looks like the install script found a previous install but the powershell script to get its location failedfor some reason? Didnt know that was even possible

Deleting the start menu shortcut for the app should fix that

%appdata%/Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Spotify Downloader/Spotify Downloader.lnk

It just means the installer wont auto fill your previous install location and you will just have to manually set it

Not sure why that would happen though its a bit of a weird bug. It shouldnt be too hard to fix though but I wont be updating the version for a while until v2.0 and since this seems like a one off thing it should be fine to sit until then, it will be fixed in 2.0 though and I will close it when that comes out
