Dates for non-existing files used to be blank?

It used to be that if a file didn't exist the timestamp would be blank.

Recently after updating, the timestamp for those files shows up as "01/01/1970 00:00:00" which I'm guessing is "time zero".

Am I missing a setting to supress the display of these "dates", or is this a bug, or is it just something that changed?
