Getting Started
If you followed the steps in the installation you should have a up and running Advanced Emulator Launcher plugin. Now it is time to configure it.
The first time AEL runs a default configuration will be created automatically.

An empty category called Emulators has been created. Every ROM or standalone launcher in AEL must belong to some category. You can create your emulator launchers inside Emulators or alternatively you can change the name.
You can also see the <Favourites> special launcher.
Virtual launchers <Browse by Title> etc.
Let's suppose you are running Kodibuntu and have installed Retroarch with the bsnes core to run SNES ROMs. In this example we will see how to configure AEL to launch your SNES ROMs.
-
First, create the ROMs directory.
-
Create the thumb/fanart directories.
-
Create the new launcher.
-
Finally, scan you ROMs.
Advanced Emulator Launcher supports importing Advanced Launcher launchers.xml
-
Open AEL settings, go to
Advancedtab, then click on `` -
AEL will detect if you have AL installed and begin the importing process.
Depending on the total number of ROMs you have in your launchres.xml the importing may take some time.
-
You are done!
Once you have imported your ROMs into AEL you can safely edit your ROMs metadata in AEL. Metadata changes in AEL will not affect metadata in AL. However, if you change your artwork (thumb/fanart) usually that will affect both AEL and AL.
You can import you launchers.xml more than once. However, keep in mind that importing launchers.xml more than once will overwrite your previously imported Advanced Launcher categories/launcher/ROMs.
IMPORTANT The platform of all imported launchers will be set to Unknown. You can later edit your launcher's
platform using the Edit Launcher context menu.
