When a new version is released, can the Releases feature be used to announce it?
Tags are already being used, but without the changelog like in the mailing list announcements. There's too much noise on the mailing list for me to follow it any longer. Releases are virtually identical to Tags, but have one key advantage: they are events that can be subscribed to.
GitHub allows for a Watch -> Custom -> Releases option that sends a notification when there's a new version.
