I know off topic, @dataprolet can you comment on this https://web.archive.org/web/20250624214542/https://blogs.gnome.org/alatiera/2025/06/23/the-fascist-maggots/ ? |

I don't know why I should or what this blog post has to do with this project. |

Yea I also think removing that would be beneficial for the project. |

Genuine question: why are you people seeing politics into everything? And why is this Trump-esque?! LMAO. Make something great again, is a simple sentence, again why are you intentionally seeing "Make America Great Again" into it from Trump's? You're clearly here for some drama and provocation. Grow the hell up. |

No, not in my space. Well, you're at least going to need a lot of high precision definitions on the subjective / individually perceptional matters (read: non-scientific in the strict sense) which you could outline here in a manner so clear and detailed, that everyone participant could measure the global (I dare to even say multidimensional) reality with no error. Given that this happens, it could be possible to get the participants into voting about differing (even opposing) definitions. Of which a single one could win then. But it's going to be lengthy process, IMO, lasting for like 5y or more. Measuring subjectivity precisely (metrologically, scientifically, exactly) so no error is left in is pretty hard, IMO. TL;DR – |

My support here. Let's look at the slogan's origins – it dates back to 1979, and comes from the guy who started political career in the party which now is opposing Trump (even if later that guys switched to different party):
PS. It seemingly was also used by the Democrat candidate Bill Clinton circa 1992 a lot: |

@sskras nice thanks for clarifying this, then this also confirms the "issue" opener is totally clueless. I didn't dug myself deep into this though, because I go headlessly the moment I see stupid people around who's seeing politics into every fucking damn thing in order for some provocation and unnecesarry drama, because they're clearly narcistic. |

@vajdao, IMO it's OK for people to have different perception than the others. |

DEI is political, also, this doesn't say free of politics, now does it?
No, it's inclusion. Diversity means there are many types present, not that many types can be present. Either way, "DEI" doesn't own every concept implied by the term. DEI is a very specific set of politically motivated actions and policies.
I can't speak for Metux, but he has been saying this long before he started XLibre officially. I believe this phrase serves two purposes; demonstrating an interest in improving the project regardless of opinions and to mock the leftists like you who try to crybully every OSS project in existence
DEI is discriminatory by it's very nature, that's why Metux is not allowing it to infect the project |

I'm glad you admitted it. People who complained before you and attacked XLibre didn't have backbone to admit that. Yes, this project is inclusive and accepts contributions from as much diverse group of people as you can imagine. The only difference I can think of is the implied request for keeping your politics at the door and being a professional. I know the political situation, especially in the US, is very heated but people here would like to focus on work. We have windows to open, we have pixels to color, we have buttons to push, we have applications to develop for our users. I don't know if I can simplify it more, I hope I answered your questions. |

this is just some woke buzzword. anti-discrimination look like reverse dicrimination, what we shoud be looking for is equity of opportunity not equity of outcome aka communism |

In any event: The XLibre project exists for a reason. The reason stated by this fork's author is that Xorg deliberately stopped development, blocked all attempts at development on their systems, and then blocked the author of this fork, and all his code, and the code of others attempting development, from their systems. Xorg did all of that for a reason. While their reason for blocking development is likely an attempt to force everyone onto Wayland, The Readme.md, rightly and properly details the need for this fork, and the reasons for it's existence. |

They are not opposing DEI, they are just not implementing it because this is a display server and DEI has nothing to do with it.
No, they are not opposing DEI. There is no DEI section anywhere. They are suggesting they are open to everyone, of any colour or race, creed or religion. It is not DEI to clarify that you are not going to discriminate (unlike those who implement DEI)
So what? He used the same words. Hitler probably used similar words at one point too. You are using similar words to Hitler. Are you now Hitler-ian?
No, they clearly stated they are not going to discriminate against anyone. If they were afraid of anti-discrimination, they would not have said that. This ticket is a waste of time, @Icenowy & @metux should close it. |

By that logic you could use a swastika as the logo for this project and claim that it's fine because it's originally from India and symbolises luck. |

@metux , please close this issue, it was created by activism to destroy the project |

I will reiterate what I opened with, my comments here are purely because I want to see this project succeed and because I want to be able to confidently ship it for a distribution as default choice. Being so reductionist and dismissive of the mildest of criticism, and assuming bad intentions when none are shown, is very rude, and frankly, immature. |

That is very obviously the end goal of the leftists spamming the project. You lot are angry about the commitment to not go along with your authoritarian ideals
Cognitive dissonance
I said it was most likely, not that it was a certainty. Them having a history, however intricate, does not prove anything. If they were to stop spamming and trying to crybully, they would at least show they are capable of being reasonable people |

No, they obviously are not xD. The opinion of pathologically possessed leftoids never changes, your only goal is to force the project to drop it's ideals so your own can be substituted somewhere down the line Your comments are for one of two reasons: A) You're a deranged leftist who is pathologically driven to cause harm to the project due to the beliefs of the lead developer |

the anti-dei readme is fine ... remove the anti-dei stuff will just hide the truth .... i wont go beyond this ... if a distro is sooo woke that they scared of this , then that distro should be avoided |

the problem is that can be subjective (having a definitive what being nice is can still be divisive) and can change and could issue in the future if the maintainer change mind or if someone hjack the project like arrive with godot. |

I don't understand what's so hard about just removing the toxic/divisive
elements from the readme.
Since right wing guys always claim "I don't give a shit", this should make
all parties equally happy.
I'm starting to think, if this project can't resolve something simple as
this, bad reputation will hurt it's adoption for no reason other than lack
of leadership from @metux
What was the end goal of all this anyway, unless he is aiming for "any
publicity is good publicity". Though that is unsustainable in the long
term. The Internet will forget once the dust settles.

This was an interesting read. I do miss the days when the internet had a higher intelligence barrier to entry. Not like today where all you need is a free mobile phone to spout degeneracy and hate with DEI. |

Calling DEI "discriminatory" while stating the project is free of "any political activists groups" is just nonsensical. Opposing DEI is political.
Also this is Diversity by definition. You're trying to oppose DEI and then have literally a DEI section right after it?
And what's with the "make X great again"? Referring to a Trump quote while also mirroring Trump's anti DEI policy is a really bad look for any supposedly "open" project.
Is this project really run by a bunch of people that are afraid of any form of anti-discrimination?
