Why is libinput complete garbage as an input driver?

Honestly, I have had to revert back to evdev to even get some semblance of proper input support for my devices, especially my mouse which uses the button 3 (wheel press), to even make it trigger properly. Libinput just seems to desync somehow with X and then likes to half trigger or release the button randomly even though I still have it pressed. has anyone else noticed this flaw with libinput under X?
