X11 and Wayland hold majority market share

This is a serious bug report, in the style of Ubuntu bug X11Libre/xserver#1, and a message of support, because I want to use XLibre on my computers.

X11 and Wayland hold a majority market share over XLibre. This project aims to fix this bug.

Lack of choice leaves users at the mercy of the software owner and concentrates control of the technology that powers our society in the hands of a few.

Steps to repeat:

1. Install a known Linux distribution
2. Attempt to use XLibre

What happens:

A good number of Linux distributions choose to enforce the use of Wayland, regardless of the impact on users and software developers.

Propositions for a fix:

• Have a special label for issues that can be solved by junior developers, to encourage more people to participate in a project that can seem intimidating.
• Include simple, straightforward instructions on how to compile and run XLibre on the most powerful distributions. Target non-developers and inexperienced users, as they are the primary driving force.
• Leave purely political issues open, so that trolls and others with too much free time in their hands can feel like they're making a difference solely by relentlessly smashing their keyboards. The more time they spend yapping angrily and cynically, the less time they'll do anything useful, and the more time XLibre will have to thrive.

One distribution that might work well for a testing ground is LFS or Slackware.

Slackware is a very back to basics distribution, and usually can harbour new projects well enough.

LFS is good because you can create a tarball beforehand of the system and redeploy it as necessary.

Gentoo is about choice. Maybe get in touch with them to have an ebuild?
