XLibre on the Ubuntu devel builds or Rhino Linux, and 24.04 LTS

Can you post the process you took to install it on a device with a Nvidia GPU? If you installed it directly on a device running the proprietary drivers it may help to fist uninstall them and switch to Noveau, then reinstall the drivers after switching to Xlibre. I apologize for assuming if you already tried that.

The repository drivers for Nvidia aren't compatible, you need to install the drivers directly from Nvidia, and add an "ignore abi" flag so that it ignores the fact that Xlibre is newer then it expects.

1. (optional) use the driver manager to identify your GPU and the newest driver Ubuntu has offered for your system.
2. go to https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/ type in your gpu name and click on the Linux option.
3. download the driver version you prefer, either the newest, the newest that Ubuntu provided, or an older one if you prefer.
4. in terminal navigate to your downloads folder and sudo chown +x the nvidia .run file to make it executable and run sudo ./drivername.run
5. it will walk you through the steps, I forget which ones I chose but if theres an open source or recompile option choose it. i skipped the 32-bit binaries when it errored. do not reboot yet.
6. MOST IMPORTANT: the Nvidia drivers in this state will refuse to start because the Xlibre driver version is too new. as listed in the Xlibre installtion guide, you will need to tell the nvidfia drivers to ignore the abi version https://github.com/X11Libre/xserver
   6a. edit /etc/X11/xorg.conf as root
   6b. add this to the end of the file

Section "ServerFlags"
    Option "IgnoreABI" "1"

7. now you may reboot, and at this point everything should work.

Is there any workaround for some of the requirements being too old on 24.04? Or is doing so a significant leap in complexity? It would be nice if I could run it on Linux Mint, but so far Ubuntu Cinnamon has been pretty much the same experience.

It needs to explicitly support 24.04 LTS since a lot of its dependencies will be older than it needs.
