small update, aml is fully functional and connected to the computer (read only). able to manage the mods and even start xcom, does not save the changes made. still unable to start aml without avast sandbox mode |

Likely another false positive: https://www.virustotal.com/gui/file/4e3f97cc36a51d3663a25c969d1f6addea38f65dce121f930a39adda44179ea2 (results shown are heuristic/AI matches, all of the major scanners say it's okay) To be safe, throw your copy of the downloaded archive into Virustotal as well to see if it matches. (also, consider updating to the 1.6 beta from here, it's much faster with bigger mod lists) |

so ... might have been as simple as putting the .exe in quarantine and restoring with exception. sent my copy to avast for review to just in case. still don't know why it worked this time and not before, had made aml an exception before and made it worse (sandbox mode trick would not work). virus total results were the exact same as yours. |

1.5.1. Possibly all
avast anti virus is blocking aml smart window from showing, aml process show up for .5 sec in task manager. using avast sandbox mode makes aml work as expected ,but isolated from the game and computer i think.
