Reset button not functioning as it should once battery has gone flat and it's been recharged

Why does the board get stuck after the battery goes flat ? What causes this problem when after charging the board does not come back on unless it's plugged back into the PC and the serial line tool is used?

I'd like to use the board as a gps tool but it's a faf having to pull the battery every time I want the board to start back up...
