- Exploiting bugs for unfair advantage
- Griefing or intentionally ruining others' gameplay
- Spamming chat or voice communications
- Discriminatory language in usernames or messages
- Sexual advances or unwelcome attention
- Adult content in community spaces
- Hate speech or discriminatory language
- Threats of violence or actual violence
- Other conduct reasonably considered inappropriate
Our community leaders are responsible for:
- Clarifying standards of acceptable behavior
- Taking appropriate action in response to violations
- Removing, editing, or rejecting inappropriate content
- Communicating reasons for moderation decisions
- Applying consequences fairly and consistently
Server admins and moderators will:
- Monitor gameplay for violations
- Kick/ban disruptive players when necessary
- Maintain fair gaming environment for all
- Document incidents for review
- Coordinate with community team on serious issues
This Code of Conduct applies within all community spaces, including:
- Official Discord server
- GitHub repositories and issues
- Forums and mailing lists
- Live streams and video content
- Social media (when representing Xonotic)
- Official Xonotic servers
- Community-hosted servers
- Tournament and competitive play
- Streaming and content creation
- Gaming events and meetups
If you experience or witness unacceptable behavior:
- Immediate Issues: Contact server admins or moderators
- Discord Issues: Use @Moderator or direct message admins
- GitHub Issues: Email community@xonotic.org
- Serious Violations: contact conduct@xonotic.org
Please include:
- What happened: Clear description of the incident
- When: Date and time (with timezone)
- Where: Which server, channel, or platform
- Who: Usernames of people involved
- Evidence: Screenshots, logs, or recordings
Community leaders will follow these guidelines when determining consequences:
Community Impact: Minor violation or first offense Consequence: Private warning with explanation of violation Gaming Impact: Temporary mute or warning
Community Impact: Moderate violation or pattern of behavior Consequence: Formal warning with consequences for continued behavior Gaming Impact: Short-term suspension from servers
Community Impact: Serious violation or repeated offenses Consequence: Temporary ban from community interactions Gaming Impact: 1-30 day ban from official servers
Community Impact: Severe violations or sustained inappropriate behavior Consequence: Permanent ban from all community spaces Gaming Impact: Permanent ban from all Xonotic services
- Respect opponents regardless of skill difference
- Follow tournament rules and admin decisions
- No stream sniping or similar unfair practices
- Handle disputes through proper channels
- Welcome new players and help them learn
- Be patient with players learning movement
- Share strategies and tips generously
- Keep voice chat appropriate for all ages
- Represent community positively in streams/videos
- Respect privacy of other players
- Follow copyright guidelines for music/content
- Credit contributors and community members
