unable to stop xpra unconditionaly

The xpra server is running on ubuntu 24.10 with /usr/bin/xpra proxy :14500 --daemon=no --tcp-auth=sys --ssl-cert=/etc/xpra/ssl-cert.pem --ssl=on --bind=none --auth=peercred --socket-permissions=666 --log-dir=/var/log --pidfile=/run/xpra/proxy/server.pid --debug=

I am not be able to stop it with xpra stop :14500 or xpra exit
What do i wrong ?

What version of xpra?

Is your proxy running as root?
It looks like it from the paths. This is by design as the system proxy server is meant to mediate for other users and should not be stopped.
If you really want to stop it, use systemctl for managing it, you can also kill it or set the env var XPRA_CAN_STOP_PROXY=1.

I run it as root. i was not be able to stop it with systemctl because it was not known. After kill it restarted by hitself.
I installed the newest xpra from debian . Normaly it must be stopped by systemctl stop xpra or systemctl disable xpra.

Did you start it yourself manually?

Then it is managed by systemd and you must use systemctl to manage it.

My error was i have not started my system with systemd.
Problem is solved.
