Hikvision WebComponents not working in seamless mode

First: thank you a million times for having built Xpra. I was previously using x11vnc + noVNC + fluxbox, but Xpra (specially the seamless mode) is so much better!

I know this is a VERY specific ask, but I have a very old DVR which I can only operate from Internet Explorer or an old version of Firefox, on Windows.

I managed to create a docker container with everything... Xpra, Wine, Firefox ESR 31.7.0, Hikvision WebComponents...

And it works great, except that the video playback does not work in seamless mode. See:

I could not find anything relevant in any logs, but if you want, I can send any logs.

I don't have many expectations to have this fixed, but maybe someone had a similar issue with some other application.

PS: the same thing works great in desktop mode:

But desktop mode has many other issues, like my cursor position is not synchronized with the cursor in the desktop for some reason.

The only major difference between the two is that seamless mode uses the composite X11 extension to capture the window contents.
The view is a probably a special wine component that does some kind of direct rendering, bypassing the window manager.
It would be interesting to see if it is visible on the vfb's virtual screen instead.
You can try: DISPLAY=:10 scrot
Then view the screenshot.

But desktop mode has many other issues, like my cursor position is not synchronized with the cursor in the desktop for some reason.

Please file a separate ticket for this - if we don't have one already.

The first finding I have is that Emulate a virtual desktop in Wine works:

Then you might be able to glean more information about it using tools like xprop.
Or not. It may not be a window at all - otherwise xpra would have intercepted it.

I am trying to run vglrun inside xpra, but I always get:

Do you have any idea on what could be wrong? (the same as in xpra start :10).

My guess is that your vfb doesn't support opengl - for whatever reason.
You have not specified your distro, packages, versions, etc - so I cannot help here.

Please refer to the virtualgl documentation.
Or, before spending too much time on this, you could run it without the containers - which would give vglrun access to the GPU.
Otherwise, you can pass-through the GPU (/dev/dri/*) or expose the X11 display :0 to the container.

Another possible solution (or workaround) is to run firefox through gamescope, but I haven't got around to trying it yet.

When Emulate virtual desktop option is enabled in Wine, Wine creates a window that acts as a virtual desktop. Within that window, the Firefox window will be placed. You can see in the video above.

I found out that issue. That issue is because of Wine's 32bit packages. OpenGL is working fine for 64bit, that message complains that the 32bit variant of OpenGL is not available.

I don't think this issue is important, though.

But anyway, I tried with Wine WoW64 (emulates 32bit):

You have not specified your distro, packages, versions, etc - so I cannot help here.

Debian 13 running in a container, with Xpra 17.1 stable:

That's the same solution as running xpra in desktop mode really.

with Xpra 17.1 stable:

The xpra server is more likely to be relevant.
FYI: I would always try with the python client first, before trying the html5 client.

That's why I suggested running xpra without containers, which would make using vglrun easier.
