Why aren't Wine desktop entries not shown in menu?

Could you please help me troubleshoot why aren't Wine desktop entries being shown in the Xpra Start menu?

Where are they defined?

You can run:

./xpra/platform/menu_helper.py

To see what entries were found.
For configuration, please refer to the xdg menu spec.

I'm not able to spot what's wrong.

The menus are located in the expected location according to the xdg menu spec:

Setting XDG_CONFIG_DIRS=$HOME/.config and XDG_DATA_DIRS=$HOME/.local/share doesn't change anything, as I expected.

Once the directory structure is in place, you should see the results when running:

However, the weird thing is that the menus aren't at all broken, which is what I would have expected with the error above.

Try setting / unsetting XDG_MENU_PREFIX.

Setting XDG_MENU_PREFIX=gnome caused:

Which is kinda funny.

But this did something:

Something else I noticed is that when booting the Xpra container for the first time I get a menu like this:

After initializing the container (i.e. installing some Wine application to $HOME) and restarting the container, it changes to:

Which may indicate that Xpra is indeed trying to load the user menu.
