There are valid use cases to use http in the backend server:

• docker networks
• validating Let's encrypt certificates on an internal network

I just hacked it away to be able to continue my setup, but maybe we could find a general solution to allow these use cases?

+1, could also be relevant in case of managing service in several proxmox VMs or raspberry pis in the same local network.
