machine.config overwritten

Hello,
Following the framework update, it appears that the machine.config file has been overwritten.
After adding a new front end, we can no longer create sharing links, and sometimes the site remains blank.
Is this a known issue?
Do we need to update the runtimes section in the machine.config file every time there's an update?

Hello again,

I wanted to start updating EntraCP and I modified all the machine.config files in the farm.
Accessing the sites all returned a "Server Error '/' in Application" message.
I checked the framework version and it's version 4.8.
I rolled back the changes and access to the sites is working again, but the /<assemblyidentity name=Azure.core section is no longer there.

It is not quite clear what happened with your machine.config, so just some explanations:

• Updating EntraCP does not automatically makes changes to machine.config, you need to make them manually
• Each version of EntraCP has its own assembly bindings requirements, but they must be manually set by the admin

Can you elaborate what happened to your machine.config file?

During a DRP test (adding and removing a web front end), we lost SAML authentication functionality (SharePoint sites weren't displaying correctly, and document sharing was impossible).
I discovered that after a .NET Framework update, the machine.config file had been overwritten. Since the settings we had added during the initial EntraCP installation were no longer present, I removed the previously added server and tried to restore the runtime settings as requested for EntraCP in the machine.config file.
From that point on, I lost access to the SharePoint sites and received the message "Server Error in '/' Application."

Thank you for the explanation, I never saw this before. If possible, can you let me know the following:

• Version of EntraCP installed
• How the <runtime> looked like after installing the .NET Framework update
• The output of the page TroubleshootEntraCP.aspx, which you can load from the central admin > Security

EntraCP TroubleShoot from the Central Administration
Test connection to 'https://login.microsoftonline.com' through proxy '' failed after 100004 ms: WebException - The operation has timed out
Test connection to 'https://graph.microsoft.com' through proxy '' failed after 100016 ms: WebException - The operation has timed out
Test loading of dependencies: OK
Test connection to tenant 'domain.com': Failed

However, when we run the test to validate the connection in the "Global configuration" to the tenant, we get a "connection successful" result.

The assembly bindings are valid for EntraCP v28.0. Can you check the SharePoint logs when you reproduce the error, and filter on product/area EntraCP ?

I just used the command line to retrieve the ENtraCP logs, and it shows that everything is OK.
We restarted the services, reapplied site permissions, and it seems to be working correctly.
