Arduino Nano Every help

I can upload a sketch from the Arduino IDE but not a hex file from Avrdudess.

I get the Warning: attempt 10 of 10: sign-on command: status -1

tried:
-c nanoevery -p m4809 -P COM5 -b 115200
and
-c jtag2updi -p m4809 -P COM5 -b 115200

any ideas?

I found out it requires a 1200bps reset touch.
