New UI for visualizing data

Grafana has been easy to set up to do the job we want to do. However, Grafana's user interface isn't very appealing to non-technical people and they often feel overwhelmed with the number of options and the UI/UX.

This will be a big project, but the plan is to create a new user friendly web application that is intuitive to use. If you're interested in working on this issue, please create a mock up of your design and we can talk about it. For reference, the current web application is at: https://scheduler.zohair.dev.

Some work has been done to improve the UI - we can take ideas from this project and integrate them https://github.com/sylvieed/DrexelScheduler. This project won 2nd place in the Philly Codefest hackathon in the advanced category. It looks pretty nice and intuitive, but is missing some of the core functionality of the software (e.g. filter by all professor ratings > 4.5).

Additionally, a team of students reached out to me at the start of April 2024 who wanted to critically analyze the UI of the site as part of their course (INFO 110) and write papers on it. I am currently waiting for their suggestions before doing further work on this issue.

Hi @satwikShresth. I currently do not have the database or an API endpoint exposed, but if you want I can look into it. What functionality are you looking for and how are you planning on using the data?

@satwikShresth I've exposed the database to the internet with readonly permissions. Please share your contact information and I can DM you the details - not that the data is super confidential, but still just in case some bad actors decides to overload the server or expose some vulnerability.

There are 2 two things I am hoping I can do

• A better non-dev, User Friendly, UI for all your scrapped data. Maybe something users can save on browser and on my server via email

• Study plan creation and maybe a metric by some mathematical formula so we can rate the difficulty of a term
