Users of Every Door app create a lot of duplicates in OSM

Background

Hello, I'm not user of Every Door app myself but I do mapping for OSM in my area/country. In past couple of days I noticed quite a big amount of duplicates created by new users, all of them coming from Every Door app.

Users such as:

• https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/Bl33pm
• https://www.openstreetmap.org/user/lqurq

They frequently add f.e. playgrounds where there is already one

Example: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/13470177939 or https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/13469875450/history/1

Here they create a water tower next to an existing water tower: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/13470177937

Or they add crossings right next to an existing crossing: https://www.openstreetmap.org/node/13469966750/history/1

Or they add completely random notes like https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/5136094 (translation "cute crossing") or https://www.openstreetmap.org/note/5136096 (translation "rails")

Problem

These duplicates need to be cleaned up and it takes time. I'm not sure who's to blame, whether it's the app not displaying things correctly or are the users to blame but can you please do something about the situation? It seems to me as if people didn't see the mapped areas (like playgrounds, school, water tower, ....) so they add new points in good faith but that's just my theory as an outsider.

It looks like these 3 users are quite new to OSM. Maybe it helps to reach out them in order to raise awareness to duplicates?

Duplicate of #605. Thanks for reporting, will look into it.

This isn't a duplicate of #605. The issue is that users are adding nodes that are already added nearby (not in the equal coordinates). That is, for some reason, they didn't see the existing objects. For example, because they didn't download the data in the current area.

Given that these users are located in the same region, I assume it was a coordinated group of newcomers who learned about the app. Unfortunately, they don't respond to comments, so we won't know what happened.

There is no bug in EveryDoor, at most there is some kind of UX issue.
