If a car have more than one driver it seems a little bit cumbersome to connect to right phone. It would be great if:

1. By default it try to connect to last one (it does it sometimes).
2. There would be way to switch phones. I though about keeping bluetooth profiles on without auto connection. It would be possible to reconnect on different phone. I'm not sure why you remove the profiles though.

Maybe there is a better way based on other wireless devices.

I have it already on my to do list, specifically:

• Add devices to the list of known devices only after successful AA connection (to prevent adding eg OBD devices such as KONNWEI, WiCAN)
• Add possibility to select order or assign priorities to devices
• Support for GPIO button to switch between

I don't know what you mean... the bluetooth AA profile? Today I removed the keepalive option which means that bluetooth is "still ON".

I am planning a lot of features but as you surely know it all needs some time (and I also have a work and a family), currently I'd like to upstream Radxa support and also add support for WiCAN for EV features.

That could work but it is not very convenience. I hope to have less cable in the car. GPIO adds one more cable :D

If you keep the AA or HSP profile active it would be possible to trigger connection from a phone when the other phone is active. That way you could switch default phone without GPIO. At least that is the theory. I have not checked if it would work.

If you connect to a device, eg in my case bluetooth OBD the bluetoothd is saving the device in it's own database. aa-proxy-rs is enumerating all devices and trying to connect to everyone in a round-robin manner. This is wrong... that's why I need to maintain my own list of AA devices...

OK I see your point... with initial Rust rewrite I was following the way how aawgd was working. It was removing the profiles by turning bluetooth OFF. But there may be another reason behind... the phone has to connect to HU for calls using bluetooth. I think removing HSP profile is helping with this... but I am not sure...
I can also ask the AAWireless guys how they do this and whether they remove it as well... They have a way much better experience with this... And also have really good working switching (with just a button ;)

You mean the thing to not removing profiles or the points I listed? Not removing profiles is not a big change for me so I can do it eg in a branch so you could test if you like...

I agree that having a GPIO button to switch profiles will work. We can make the button small/ discreet to still keep the device small.

Software solution would be nice, if we could detect a new BT or wifi connection, tear down the old session and start a new one

my idea is:

1. detect or connect to all devices
2. activate based on last connected device
3. Remove AA/HSP profile to make phone to disconnect bluetooth
4. Add AA/HSP profile so the other phone could reconnect and become active

Got it - I pretty much have all of this in my head already. I’ll be handling it while taking into account some other things too, like config priorities and a few other items that are already on my list. So yeah, it’ll get sorted.

As for the profiles that need to stay enabled - we can definitely figure something out there too. No need to make a PR for this, though - I’ve got some related stuff on my side and I’d prefer to handle it myself for now.

If you’re looking for something in the meantime: I can give you that version I mentioned earlier - the one that doesn’t disable those profiles - and you can play around with it a bit to see how things behave in practice. Let me know.
