This is a thread to track issues originally posted to the elementor repo, and to track what has been fixed, and what other things are to work on. See the comment #1 (comment) for a breakdown. Results of my own testing on my own sites are in #1 (comment)

Some justification(s)

Many issues with the elementor version when users were happy with OCA2, eg:

• GDPR implications — External resources (Google Fonts, CDN) loaded without consent elementor/one-click-accessibility#253
  ^ Elementor version at one point used Google Fonts, has allegedly now been removed. This fork does not use google fonts.

• Unable to dismiss notification to switch to new version. Unable to use new version without elementor account. elementor/one-click-accessibility#231
  ^ User didn't want to upgrade to Elementor version, and could not dismiss notification - this fork does not have that functionality to annoy them. 👍

• The new Ally-Web Accessibility removes the website favicon + Not displaying in mobile elementor/one-click-accessibility#202
  ^ User in this issue asked how to revert, because the Elementor version broke their favicon.

And the numerous 1 ⭐ reviews posted on the WordPress plugins page, shows there is some demand for the simple, original version that this fork provides (with backported security fixes! 🕵️‍♀️ )

I did try and register on WordPress.org to start my forked version there, but they decided after human review (allegedly) that I was a spammer. 🙃 ... What fun.

Tested functions; Increase Text, Decrease Text, Greyscale, High Contrast, Negative Contrast, Light Mode, Underline Links, OpenDyslexic Font, Admin UI

2025-06 - ✅ Tested on WordPress 6.8.2 with PHP 8.2
2025-09 - ✅ Tested on WordPress 6.8.2 with PHP 8.3
2025-09 - ✅ Tested on WordPress 6.8.2 with PHP 8.4
2025-10 - ✅ Tested on WordPress 6.8.3 with PHP 8.4

I'm new to this so I don't know the etiquette or security/functionality considerations around adopting PRs into forks, but I've had my eye on this one in particular: https://github.com/elementor/one-click-accessibility/pull/63/commits that included a fix for this: elementor/one-click-accessibility#24 (comment)

Not a huge deal because I always end up putting in the css myself and it seems to work relatively fine, I'm mentioning this primarily as a consideration: there might be other PRs that were left abandoned due to the original being "deprecated" too, not just issues?

@rainbowforgedev Oh wow, what a star!!! What an excellent spot! I never noticed these!

I've known greyscale has been buggy for a while with JS and that looks amazing. I'll have to have a look through the PRs and see if there's things I can bring in. <3

Edit: Okay. I imported the greyscale fix and pushed a new release <3 Again, thanks for putting me onto this, I honestly never thought to check closed commits!!!

OpenDyslexic Support

• Feature Request elementor/one-click-accessibility#48
  ^ The reason I started my fork in the first place. The fork has OpenDyslexic by default.

Greyscale not working

• High Contrast and Negative Contrast options remove background images elementor/one-click-accessibility#65
• Grayscale Scrolling Issue elementor/one-click-accessibility#107
  ^ Fixed with the greyscale update from Added background class to HTML to fix the grayscale issue elementor/one-click-accessibility#63 and merged into v2.2.3

Set maximum font size steps

• Feature request re font sizes elementor/one-click-accessibility#64
• Maximum Levels of Zoom elementor/one-click-accessibility#102
  ^ Option to add max font sizes was added in v2.2.3 via Created the Zoom Level settings in the WP admin panel., elementor/one-click-accessibility#103 with some changes and adding sanitisation in line with the rest of the XSS fixes in v2.2.4.

Descriptions for SVGs

• SVG needs Title and Description Attributes elementor/one-click-accessibility#72
  ^ description for SVGs added in v2.2.4. - Will mirror the title for now (therefore a little bit bodgy, but better than none)

Extra eye SVG menu icon.

• Add custom icon support elementor/one-click-accessibility#98
• Add icon elementor/one-click-accessibility#83
  ^ T-I-G-I contributed the eye icon in a pull Update pojo-a11y-customizer.php elementor/one-click-accessibility#94 and Update pojo-a11y-frontend.php elementor/one-click-accessibility#92 - I merged it in v2.2.3 - Changes imported from Elementor pulls 55, 56, 94 and 103 #5 and some fixup in v2.2.4 #7 - It should be fairly easy to add new icons if required, and maybe would be a good feature to add a mechanism for a site admin could choose their own SVG?

Tab Index Greater Than Zero

• I found and fixed this myself after running my site through W3C validation, but also found an issue today ( tabindex and skip links issue elementor/one-click-accessibility#106 ) and a pull ( change tabindex to 0 elementor/one-click-accessibility#185 ) fixing the issue the same way. I fixed in commit ( 6282fb6 ) which is included in v2.2.4 or later.

Allow toggling menu with external link and automatically closing when not the focus

• Enhancement request: Ability to close menu by clicking anywhere outside of it elementor/one-click-accessibility#60
• Enhancement request: Individual one-click toggles elementor/one-click-accessibility#61
• off canves Accessibility bar open by css  elementor/one-click-accessibility#77

For 60, 61 and 77, I have some ideas, although I'm not sure what's the best way to implement it that won't break a lot of sites or something. An interesting page I found with different implementations was how-do-i-detect-a-click-outside-an-element and specifically this in particular has WCAG related suggestions, but not a super quick thing to implement.

• Readable font makes all font-awesome icons disappear elementor/one-click-accessibility#66 (font awesome not loading)
  ^ not sure I can reproduce. I originally used FA4 and now use FA6, and both display fine, although one one site icons did disappear using FA, but help wanted for this one please.

No longer relevant / already was fixed pre-fork:

• Double double-quotes in icon declaration - Prevent some accessibility and validation scans elementor/one-click-accessibility#51
  ^ Double quotes in SVGs, was merged into main some time ago

• Contrast buttons can't be disabled via plugin configuration page elementor/one-click-accessibility#71 (toggles not working)
  ^ Not relevant any more, all toggle as expected in admin panel.
