Downloading some videos where the language audio when viewing on YouTube is English results in another language in the dowloaded soundtrack.

For example, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zeL3mbq1mEg is naturally English, but resulted in an Italian soundtrack for the download. (Previous downloads from that channel have produced a German soundtrack).

The reason this is happening, I believe is if the YouTube account is setup with multilanguage. If you look at the information under the video, click on more and look to see if the following is present: How this content was made Auto-dubbed Audio tracks for some languages were automatically generated. Learn more <https://support.google.com/youtube/answer/15569972?hl=en> When you see this, it uses any language it selects. If the above is not listed, then very likely it will download the video in English. When I see this message I use YTDownloader, which lets you select the language you want downloaded.. Correct, here's another example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-SlgM5eLxQ4 Native language for the video is English but Youtube offers dubs in other languages and when downloading, VDH defaults to German audio with no way to select the proper English language stream. I've noticed some Youtube download websites have begun figuring out how to work around this and show all the various audio streams to choose from, so it may require a bit of new code to resolve. I didn't mention that I do not work for VDH. I am just another user.

I am running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 24H2 build 26100.2894, Firefox 134.0.2 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.3.0.0 beta, CoApp 2.0.20. Note that version of VDH. The beta was just made available.

With this environment, I am still getting the German language audio when I download your video. It is even available in 4K, which is the variant I downloaded. My download speed was on the order of 30 million bytes per second, a rare show of generosity on the part of YouTube. Nevertheless, the new VDH beta still does not recognize the language you are playing the video back in. It also does not offer any way that I can see to choose among the available audio tracks. I would expect that VDH should offer a menu of languages for the audio, not just take whatever you're playing in the web page. There should be some NEW functionality to show the various audio tracks. VDH should offer those audio tracks so you can do some of those audio-only downloads. That way, you can have the video with several audio tracks on your system. VLC has the capability of cycling through all the audio tracks as long as they are named correctly. I did this with something recently but I forget exactly how it's done. But no matter. That's why the VLC web site offers documentation. You should look it up if you're interested.

Oh I remember now. You use the synchronous playback feature of VLC. If the original video includes an audio track, you can specify one of those "synchronously play this alternative audio track" options. Then VLC can be told to select either audio track. I'm not sure if the synchronous playback feature allows you to specify multiple alternative audio tracks. I haven't tried that so I don't know if it would work. I'll leave that for another day.
