Was a fan of this addon , but this new watermark policy and "pay-18€50-to-get-your-file" is the end of the road.
Addon removed so.
There is still a lot of free ways to download web content.
1€ or 2€ would be ok and limit the bank run.
18€50 is a definitely a short and deadend strategy.
What's gonna happen is you will quickly make a bit of cash ,but a lot of ppl like me will uninstall and you will have less and less users among the time with less and less new users.
Free-to-use competitors app will take that spot you give away.

There is no "new" policy on the VDH license & the writing of the watermark. Considering that the VDH license is for life, your life, on every computer you own now & every computer you will ever own, the price of the license amortizes quickly. For example, I bought my VDH license for $28.50 in May 2018. That's 7 years, 84 months ago. That works out to about 34 cents a month. And next month, next year, the year after, that number will be even smaller. If I had multiple computers, which I don't, but if I did, it would be even cheaper. If I had just 2 computers, that would be 17 cents per month per computer. The license is a one-time outlay of cash. It is not a subscription with a recurring payment. Your argument holds no water. But everyone is different when it comes to justifying how they spend their money. To each his own.

No offense & because you have a licensed app you just don't know what we are talking about.
Dev just made recent changes to enforce users either downloading with awful watermark or either can't download at all.
Basically meaning: pay or leave that can only be comprehended as a shake down attempt.

  Anyway found 2 other apps already so i am done with this one for good.

I know it is a futile exercise to try to disabuse someone who is determined to cling to his or her misconceptions. But for other people coming along in the future & reading this . . .

My understanding is that there has been no change in the policy of when a watermark gets written since before I started using VDH about 7 or so years ago. Nobody else has reported a change in the watermark policy. Recent releases have been mostly concerned with getting downloads from YouTube to work, which mostly has been dealt with. I don't believe there has been any development work done in the area of the watermark. As for "enforcement" of getting a license, enforcement has never been imposed. You do or don't get a license based on your own criteria. The watermark is a gentle inducement to get a license, but the product will continue to work just fine if you don't want to get a license.

The writing of a watermark & the success of any given download are separate issues. If downloads fail, the proper thing to do is post a proper problem report here with at least one URL of a web page on which a video failed to download. Licensed & unlicensed users are treated equally here. If something fails to download, that is investigated without reference to the license. I should point out that it has always been clearly stated that some things just fail to download in VDH. It's not perfect.

None of this is directed at @athor since that person has left & is no longer reading this forum, no longer cares what goes on here. That's fine. The world is full of people who do not participate here. My comments are for others who might stumble upon this discussion because they do want to successfully use VDH.
