I do not work for VDH. I am just another user. Also, please read #2214. I'm running Windows 11 Pro 64-bit version 24H2 build 26100.4484, Firefox 140.0.2 64-bit, licensed VDH 9.5.0.2, CoApp 2.0.20. I downloaded your Duncan Rhodes video & it had the English audio track. This is the primary improvement between the latest VDH beta for Firefox & the latest VDH general release for Firefox: the handling of the multiple language audio tracks on YouTube. At the moment, the general release version is newer than the beta, so nobody should be running the beta. Today. That will likely change over time. But today, nobody should be running the beta because it is out of date. The general availability VDH is the current one & that's what everybody should be running. I do not believe this issue is completely resolved. I switched my chosen language from English to French using the gear icon within the YouTube video player & I downloaded the Duncan Rhodes video again. I was expecting to hear a French audio track. Instead, I got the English audio track again. So this issue is NOT resolved yet. It is papered over. No matter which language track you select on YouTube, you get the default language. This is perhaps a bit snobby since English is the default language for most content on YouTube. But there are other languages out there, despite the latent xenophobia exhibited by YouTube. VDH still does not handle this language track issue properly. More work needs to be done. When I did my first download, the download speed reported in VDH never got above 2M/s. It started out quite slow & did gradually increase, but it barely got faster than what I used to get on my old, putridly slow DSL connection. When I did the download again hoping for the French audio track, the download gradually sped up for the duration of the download. It had just crossed 5M/s & would surely have continued to speed up if the video had been any longer. There's no predicting YouTube. My 2 downloads were just a couple of minutes apart & my second download was much faster than the first. I can't explain it. I think YouTube is a cesspool anyway so I suppose I shouldn't be surprised. I'm sure your mileage will vary drastically. |
