So Easy Video Downloader Express "expired" recently (whatever that means) and the newer version can't be installed because i don't have permission or something. So i went looking for an alternative and found VDH. I got the extension and it said it didn't need the CoApp for mp4 and other "normal" stuff. However when i went to download Stato - Space Bunny, it couldn't detect the video. I tried to "force detection" and it said it needed cookie permission. I granted it and then it said i needed the CoApp anyway. So i went to get the CoApp desktop client. It said to not have my browser open when i "upgraded" so i restarted my computer, installed CoApp (which i have no idea where it is now) and now the VDH is no longer displaying it's logo in the extension menu or popping up when clicked.

The companion app is not meant to be opened, it runs in the background. If you don't see the extension it might need to be pinned
to the toolbar. There is a button on the toolbar that manages extensions. Look in there for VDH.

Well, i just got my first reregristration prompt. Anyone figure out whats happening yet?

Reregistration? You mean it told you your license was locked & it made you revalidate? That is normal after 8 installations. You have been uninstalling & reinstalling. The license locking is meant as a quick way to try to make sure a license has not fallen into the wrong hands. It is routine to click the link in the E-mail you get. That should cause your license to be recognized again. At worst, you'll need to paste your key into the VDH settings & click the Check license key button.

As for your repeatedly losing your VDH, I'm still stumped. I suppose everybody else is as well, which would explain the absence of helpful replies from anybody.

I haven't been uninstalling. I have to put the license key in each time i restart my browser due to the extension resetting. But i am burning through uses, hence why I'm getting the reregristration prompt so soon.

Any clue about the cookie idea i had?

No. I don't know how VDH accesses cookies or even if it does. Our dev would probably be the only one who could make any intelligent pronouncements on the subject. There's some discussion of cookies in some other threads at the moment but those are in connection with YouTube allowing some downloads & then blocking the user for some unknown period of time. The speculation is that YouTube leaves cookies behind that tell it to prevent you from downloading. Clear the cookies & you'll be allowed to download again . . . for a while. At least, that's the hypothesis that folks are trying to test. That is way downstream from your issue. So no, I'm no help on that score, which was why I hadn't said anything about it.

Well, i've had to re verify my license two more time ><
Another thing i've noticed is firefox is no longer saving any changes to my settings. If i move a button around of turn off a setting somewhere it reverts back to what it was the next time my browser restarts.
