YouTube Download Audio Are Always In German

For the past 2 weeks now either I'd get download failures, causing me to have to re enter my license repeatedly or when I can download a video the audio is always in German. Is there a solve for this?

I do not work for VDH. I am just another user. Also, please read #2214.

The multilingual YouTube issue has been papered over but not solved. Whatever is defined as the original language is what you get. If the original language is Greek, that's what VDH retrieves. If the original language is Spanish, that's what VDH retrieves. Other languages are simply ignored by VDH. An English audio track might be there, but VDH retrieves that ONLY if English is the original language of the video. There is no way today that VDH allows you to choose from among the various language dubs that might exist. If you want a more complete workaround, study #1707. This is a workaround, not a solution. But it's all we've got for the moment.

As far as I know the up loaders are all English speaking but I'll try the workaround. It was operating normally but then later it was in German again.

It depends on the video. Each one is its own distinct case. You need to click the gear icon within the video player on the YouTube page. If there is no particular language listed, then the video has only one language track available. But if there is a language listed, it is usually the default & that is the one that VDH will download for you. You need to click the language & a submenu will appear listing all the available language dubs, with the default indicated as "original." If you want one of those other languages, you need to resort to the technique explained in #1707. So before you come to any conclusions, you need to click the gear & see what happens to be on offer in that particular video. "Operating normally for a while then not" is not the case. You were lucky with some & unlucky with others. Like I say, you need to verify each case without reference to any other case.

The video turned out to be in German. This wasn't the only video I experienced this but some other YouTube videos as well.

You need to read my posts upthread here. I summarize what's going on. I refer to another discussion where I have more completely explained what's going on & how to deal with it. The problem of getting the wrong language has most assuredly not been properly dealt with yet. You still have to do what I explained in that other thread. Just read what's upthread here. Don't skip over it. And make sure you always click any links in discussions that say Show x previous replies & Show x more replies.

That is totally strange. I just visited your video for the first time & VDH downloaded it in English for me, too. I didn't have to force reload or anything. Just went to the page & did the download. I chose the 2160p MKV for my download. It has 10 language dubs, with English identified as the original. I grabbed the URL for the HLS master manifest from the VDH Hit Details & ran it through ffprobe. German is the first of the 10 languages listed & English is the last. But VDH managed to make the right choice in this case. We have other users who have reported that despite English being identified as the original language, VDH downloaded the video with one of the other languages. It's very unpredictable. I suppose you need to just thank your lucky stars when it works, but revert to #1707 when it doesn't.

Hmm. I think your explanation makes more sense. This is very bizarre. I will revert to #1707 when It doesn't download in English. Thank you for responding.
